Monsoon Season

Everyday afternoon thunderstorms have become routine. But it hasn't been nearly as bad as I thought it would be. So far I haven't had to cancel any flights. I have been able to weave my way in-between cells. Most of the cells are very easy to see since the bases of the clouds normally start about 9,000 ft. I just steer clear of the fall streaks and where I see lightning.

In Kingman one day I had to delay my flight for about 20 minutes due to a pretty intense thunderstorm. I was able to land in Kingman with light winds & sprinkles of rain and within five minutes, the sprinkles turned into fast falling-large rain droplets. I picked up my cargo and got soaked. The winds picked up and blew a tumble-weed right at me at well over 50 kts. This tumble-weed looked like a basketball thrown by Shaq all the way across court. As the storm passed, the grey skies brightened up into a colorful double rainbow that arched across the sky. As I took off and climbed to the south, the rainbow half circle turned into a full circle of brilliant color.
