Mt. Elden Lookout

Krystle and I climbed to the top of Mt Elden! We started about 10AM and got to the top about 1PM. It's a pretty good climb starting from about 7000' and going up to 9300' in only 3 miles. But those three miles involve hundreds of switchbacks.

The morning started out beautiful. As we climbed up the temperature decreased and clouds started to build. The top of the mountain has a ranger station which was the goal of the hike. We made it all the way up to the ranger station, but because of heavy winds and rain, sleet, light snow, hail & lightning we decided it wouldn't be safe to climb to the top of the slippery staircase. It was a little disappointing, but the view from the top was still worth while.

It only took us another hour to make it all the way to the bottom of the hill. It was quite a fun adventure.
